The link I had for my Cotton Eyed Joe ringtone is outdated. Until I can get a new link, if you'd like to have it, just email me, and I'll send it directly to you. You can hear it by listening to "cotton-eyed-joe' on the music player directly above. The ringtone is the 1st 30 seconds.
Ringtones that come with your phone can get old. If you'd like to know it's your phone that's ringing, and not someone else's - not only will you have choices here, I'll make you your own!
Other than the regular violin tuning of G D A E, I also use G D G D. I have two fiddles, and most of the time the fiddle I use for open tunings lives in that tuning. I also use a low D "drone" string on the bottom, then D A D. I'll also take that same tuning and tune the whole instrument down to C (drone) G C F#. That's because some of the songs I sing need to be a key lower for my vocal range of the song. I also use a couple of variations on the tunings I've mentioned. On the CD "Darcie Plays the Fiddle and Sings," whenever I use an alternate tuning, I list it. It's on the artwork.
Over the years, that fiddle has become very deep and loud. That's because the tunings make the fiddle vibrate at a lower frequency. It really opens up the wood.
