Darcie Deaville Plays the Fiddle and Sings - CD on Taller Dog Music

The title is a good description. If you like traditional American folk music and lots of fiddle, this CD is for you. Darcie also plays guitar, mandolin, octave mandolin, and sings harmony. Some songs are solo, with Darcie simply playing the fiddle and singing. Others sound like a full band, with a good example being the song "Wayfaring Stranger." Marvin Dykhuis (Tish Hinojosa) also plays some percussion, and guitar on a couple of cuts.

Released in 1999, this recording is a story of a survivor.
"Her wizardry with melodies and musicianship draws the listener into a whirling journey, that when finished definitely lets you know that you're not in Kansas anymore." - Rich Warren, Sing Out Magazine
"[Darcie] shows a talent for songwriting and storytelling on a par with Rory Block and Mary Chapin Carpenter. Clearly, Deaville is one to watch." - Kerry Dexter, Dirty Linen
"In the fiddlework, in the words, and in the supporting cast of musicians, there is power in this album ..." - Christopher Hess, Austin Chronicle
